A chill ran down my spine.

An emergency medicine resident discussing the indications for a neonatal ventilator, a subspecialty in neonatology?

And in front of a professor, no less?

This was like a first-year resident telling a professor on rounds, “According to the latest paper, wouldn’t it be better to use this drug?”

I got too full of myself.

Even the example I brought up could be argued as being within the same department, but this was outright encroaching on another specialty...
