The figure radiated an oppressive presence, standing perfectly still without approaching or speaking. Yet Yin Xiu could clearly feel its gaze pierce the fog and fall on him.
Yin Xiu stood there holding the little girl, not going any farther. After a moment’s silence, he noticed the figure didn’t seem inclined to move and tentatively asked, “Is something wrong?”
The figure didn’t answer. Instead, it slowly took a step forward, and only then did Yin Xiu get a clear look at what stood before him.
It was probably the woman from the seal.
She stood in the fog, dressed in a long white gown, her hair disheveled. Bright red blood stained the hem of her dress and trickled down her legs to the ground.
One of the woman’s legs was lame. Her lower leg was swollen and twisted, as if something had forcibly snapped it. Clear clamp marks stood out against her pale, bluish skin, while bruises in shades of purple and blue made the sight even more horrifying.
This was Yin Xiu’s first time facing the woman directly. He studied the marks on her body, his brow furrowing slightly.
The origin of the monstrosities, rumored to be so terrifying that she had to be sealed away to keep it contained, looked more like a victim.
The woman stared at him from the fog. Once she appeared in Yin Xiu’s field of vision, she didn’t come any closer.
Yin Xiu gazed at her thoughtfully. “You’ve already chosen me as your sacrifice. There’s no need to rush, is there?”...
