The Light Spear

The sensation in my hand was light. The only resistance I felt at the spearhead was a subtle drag, like stirring through mud. It was nothing like the steel-hard body I'd felt last time.

Even with the Blood Veil spread before it, the resistance was still this minimal. Yet, I hadn't undergone any rigorous training in the two months since then. As I looked at it again, the title of Avenger was certainly doing its job.

It felt as if the Barrier that had been bothering me was now a layer thinner. Asmodeus wasn't the only one surprised; my Companions' eyes widened for a moment too.

“...!”

Especially Odelia, who shared with me memories of encountering him, was even more so.

“Now! Press the Attack!”

But their surprise lasted only a moment before they quickly regained their composure and began to charge at him. Sword blades and magic surged from all directions.

In response, his countermeasure was simple yet violent. He shot out all the blood gushing from his dismembered body.

Fwoosh-! Fwoosh-! Blood-soaked Spike Attacks erupted from him, scattering in all directions. They say the best Defense is an Attack. True to that, we had no choice but to create some distance and retreat.

If it had been just one or two, we might have parried them and charged, but there were dozens, hundreds of Spike Attacks before us. Even I couldn't help but be a little surprised...
