The Purpose of the Fissure

The method to find the fissure is simple. In fact, if you can just roughly guess its intentions, it isn't that difficult.

As I said last time, the fissure is not a randomly opening Passage. If it were, it would have opened indiscriminately near the Empire's Cities.

However, the fissure was a means Basin used with a clear purpose. As such, it primarily opened in places where monsters resided.

But then, with people like us setting up shop in such Places and wiping out all the Monsters... There was no need for it to open a fissure specifically where we were.

Whether it was consciously opening them itself, or if they were operating by a specific mechanism, I didn't know... but it was clear that opening one would only be a waste.

We hadn't known that until now. And since we'd been Hunting Monsters everywhere we went, there was no way a fissure would open. Well... I suppose that might have reduced the number of Gates in the modern World.

So, after realizing that, I changed my approach. Instead of needlessly cutting down Monsters, we would set up near their Habitat and wait indefinitely.

“Wow, what kind of Monster has muscles like that...?”

“Shh, you'll give us away.”

And the place we chose was the Reed Field where Minotaurs lived. In some fictional works, Minotaurs live in labyrinths... but here, these cow-headed beasts graze on grass like actual cows...
