An elderly vagrant with tattered clothes and a half-bald head walked out.
One of his eyes had lost its function and turned white, and his arms and legs were as thin as tree branches.
Despite his seemingly weak body, the vagrant made leisurely and relaxed gestures like a nobleman.
Damian knew. His eyes weren't blind, and he wasn't a real vagrant. It was just one of the dozens or hundreds of appearances the Doppler had learned.
Clap clap clap
It slowly applauded towards Damian. It grinned, showing yellow teeth. There was no respect or reverence in it. It was mockery.
Damian instinctively sensed that this Doppler was different from the ones he had faced before.
Understanding and using mockery required better cognitive abilities. It seemed to think and act on its own, beyond merely superficially imitating human behavior.
The vagrant spoke in a voice mixed with a metallic sound, "Welcome... back to hell. Disciple of the Archmage."
Surrounded by Dopplers, there was no escape hole. Damian looked up at the sky. The dark clouds were writhing like snakes. The word "hell" was a rather appropriate expression for a Doppler...
