Safe Return

We docked the ship in a secluded area outside the school and began the Return Procedure. Professor Candinella from the Magic Department led us to her Office. Upon arriving at the Office, she brewed tea. The four of us squeezed onto a narrow sofa, shoulders touching, and waited in silence.

“So, is everyone unharmed?”

Hailey replied on behalf of the group.

“Yes, thankfully.”

“Consider yourselves lucky. In that chaos, losing a limb or two wouldn't have been unusual. You should thank the Goddess.”

“You’re right. We were incredibly lucky.”

“Well, as long as you’re breathing, we can use all sorts of miracles to heal you, but losing several months or even years is unavoidable.”

Hailey’s expression darkened slightly, perhaps recalling those who died in Claridium.

“Have you completed all the preparations for your return?”

“Yes, and I actually have an urgent question for the Professor.”...
