While the Princess and Imperial Princess might be hostile towards each other, I held no particular ill will. Neither of those two had harmed anyone, nor had they exploited the common people.
Moreover, I didn't believe the men had willingly chosen to participate in this event. In such romantic settings, women's influence usually played a larger role. Men preferred things like fishing, hunting, or gladiatorial combat.
What could be done? Though I wasn't keen on it, I would do my best not to disappoint the Princess. Those men, too, would likely exert themselves to win their partners' favor, even if unwillingly.
The Audience Seating gradually filled up. The Spectators looked down at us, trying to uncover the identities of the masked Participants.
“Look, the gray-haired one. They say he’s the Collector from the Rotzwell Sector.”
“With clothes like that?”
“That plump woman is the youngest daughter of the Marquis who runs the Orange Farm. How could you not know her?”
“Are there only one or two plump women in the Count's Family?”
Amidst the chaotic atmosphere, men in white robes entered in a line. They stood in a single row at the center of the Arena, dividing the space in half.
“Alright, gentlemen, please stand to the right, and ladies, please stand to the left.”...
