-Giant Spider: Boss-san's POV-
I watch the small golems place boards on a wooden frame.
What a strange sight.
Golems are weapons created by humans.
They were devised to deal with monsters and magical beasts.
They are charmingly small, and have been making something or other for a while now.
I've never seen golems like these.
Well, every spell Master creates is unfamiliar to me, though.
Under the influence of Master's magic, I can feel the strength I lost slowly returning.
The power I used for so long to protect my companions.
Even so, I continued losing many of them.
My children and I were nearing extinction as we became unable to maintain our bodies.
But now, little by little, we are returning to our former state.
Warm magic envelops my wounded body.
Master's magic feels soothing.
But just how many golems can Master create at once?
Even the mage said to be the greatest could create only three golems, if I recall correctly.
Though small, I can sense unfathomable power from Master's golems.
And I sense a self-awareness in Master's golems that should be impossible.
Golems are beings that listen to and carry out their master's orders.
Inorganic beings incapable of doing anything more.
And yet I can sense a will in these inorganic beings...?
Though I find that puzzling, the pair of golems before me...
When they successfully set a board on the wooden frame, they smack their hands together... They must be happy.
And there's more.
One of them is shaving a board with a mithril knife, but it isn't doing a very good job.
Seeing this, another golem comes to help.
And... a golem bows its head... perhaps in gratitude?
The first was joy, and the second was gratitude.
Such actions are inconceivable for golems, inorganic beings as they are.
Master's power is simply too vast a mystery for me to comprehend.
...
At Master's request, I introduced him to the thread-making monster Suwasowa, but
I never thought it would attack Master.
Still, Master's barrier kept the poison from taking hold.
Suwasowa's poison is deadly.
It has no effect on me, but a human wouldn't stand a chance against it.
It's a troublesome poison that can slip through a flimsy barrier.
Still, even that deadly poison would be useless against a barrier as robust and solid as Master's.
Come to think of it, I expected the barrier to counterattack when it was attacked,
but it didn't attack Suwasowa. That really scared me.
A single attack from Master would probably erase not only Suwasowa but me as well.
That is how powerful it is.
The attack on the barrier that happened at night.
Then came the light of the counterattack, streaking across the night sky.
Though it was an attack, I was spellbound by its beauty for a while.
I would never want to be struck by one myself...
