As the shadow covering the area began to glow white, it quietly vanished into fragments of light.
The countless corpses it revealed also gave off a faint glow before vanishing into the air.
They had been corpses to begin with, so it's hard to say, but in a way, it was a very beautiful moment.
After watching the last of the light disappear, I checked on the wolves that were still alive.
There were four wolves resembling the one I'd brought here, though they were a little smaller.
There was also one wolf—or dog?—that was clearly a different species.
Its face is way too scary, but is it a dog?
It must be a dog.
Compared with the first one I met, it's not as scary.
To be honest, I met the first one while I was panicking, so the shock didn't hit me as hard.
Besides, my head was already in total overload.
If I'd encountered it in my current, slightly calmer state, I don't even want to imagine what kind of blunder I might have made.
Yeah, it's a good thing I ended up here in the future.
"You're dirty."
For some reason, they all looked dejected at my words.
Did they understand what I said?
Maybe they're quite intelligent.
Come to think of it, wolves are supposed to be intelligent animals.
Now, let's use Clean to get rid of the dirt.
Then I was face-to-face with beautiful wolves and a dog, all with silky fur.
Two of the wolves had coats that could be called silvery white.
One had black fur, and another had white fur.
The dog was brown all over, with black fur mixed in here and there.
When they stood together, the dog was about the size of the smaller wolves.
Is it a little intimidated by the wolf next to it?
"Get along with each other."
All their tails are wagging, so they should be fine.
What concerns me about them is how terribly thin they are.
There's nothing I can do about that right now.
Well, there's no point in staying here.
This place may be spacious, but I don't feel comfortable staying somewhere that is essentially the entrance.
I need to consider what to do if something attacks us.
I need to find out what lies deeper inside—or whether anything is there at all.
It wouldn't be funny if something attacked us from behind.
For now, I approached one of the two entrances.
All six followed me.
They seemed willing to come along. That was reassuring.
After I purified the cave, I found a fairly large chamber.
It must be more than fifty meters long and wide.
I don't know the exact measurements, though.
Besides the entrance from outside—the one we came through—there are two more entrances leading somewhere else.
"Do you know what's there?"
I pointed to the two entrances in turn and asked the wolves.
The wolf shook its head.
It seemed to understand what I was saying...
Though I couldn't be certain.
The other wolves and the dog gave the same response.
I don't know whether they understand language, but they seem to understand what I'm asking.
Maybe I can rely on them, then.
Well, there's no point in staying here.
