An Old Country Bumpkin Forgets

“There... How’s this?”

“Yeah, that looks pretty good.”

Kurni held the Zweihänder I’d recommended and asked uncertainly.

At the dojo, she’d mostly used one-handed wooden swords. Even now, her weapon of choice was a short sword, so she’d probably chosen it as an extension of what she’d learned there. I could understand how bewildering it must be to suddenly be handed a two-handed sword.

“How does it feel?”

But it’s not like I was trying to force a Zweihänder on her. The goal was to find a weapon that suited Kurni, so if this one didn’t feel right, we’d simply look for another sword.

“Hmm... It’s not light, but it’s not as heavy as you’d think.”

“Hmm. I’d say it’s not bad.”

It’s amazing she doesn’t find a two-handed sword heavy. When’d you get so ridiculously strong? At this rate, I could see you wielding a halberd or a poleaxe instead of a sword. That’s scary.

From Kurni’s perspective, a short sword must have felt like little more than a dry twig. No wonder she couldn’t channel her strength into it properly...
