Few people take carriages bound for the Northern District at this hour.
The Northern District is mainly a tourist area. The Rebellis royal palace is by far its most prominent landmark, and aside from that, there are only a few residential areas. Compared to the other districts, not many people live in the Northern District itself.
So it was no surprise at all that I was the only person aboard the public carriage heading for the Northern District. Normally, people would be taking one in the opposite direction at this hour.
“...Whew.”
After Lucy told me where the nearest carriage stop was, I talked with Myui, waited at the stop for the carriage to depart, and then climbed aboard when it arrived, despite the driver giving me a slightly puzzled look. Some time had passed since then.
I let my gaze drift over the cityscape slowly sliding by and breathed out softly.
If Levios was going to make a move, it would probably be around midnight, when the whole city had settled down for the night.
If he didn’t show up, great. If he did... well, I’d have no choice but to stop him. That was why I was making my way there like this.
Maybe I should’ve brought a wooden sword, since there was a chance I’d have to deal with people. Unfortunately, the only thing I had with me was a real sword made from Zeno Greyble’s materials, the sort that practically screamed, “I’m sharp.” I couldn’t exactly test its edge on a person, could I?
For now, all I could do was pray things would end peacefully. Though, the fact that I’d been given a job like this probably meant nobody expected that to happen...
