Mongolian Steppe, China’s Awakened One Research Institute

The Mongolian Steppe had undergone many changes since the Great Cataclysm.

The Mongolians suffered massive casualties, with most migrating to China or Korea. After some time passed, China advanced into the Mongolian Steppe using human wave tactics, but the terrain was so poor that the area was practically isolated.

Then why was there an Awakened One Research Institute here now?

The reason was obvious.

First of all, Jang Hak-chae, who was envious of Korea, built a human experimentation research institute to create Enhanced Hunters that were stronger than Normal hunters, and this location was optimal for it.

If you went outside, monsters roamed not far away, and since the Awakened One Research Institute was essentially a biological experimentation facility, it had to avoid the eyes of The West.

Above all, they were practically sending the refugees wandering all over the Central Plains Continent to this institute. To avoid being picked on by the United States and others who still maintained their positions as great powers, security had to be airtight.

If by any chance something happened, they could just lure monsters to destroy the institute itself and erase the evidence...
