The pen is mightier than the sword. It's a famous saying most people have heard at least once, and it carries many meanings.
The 'person who holds the pen' Dmitry mentioned to me is similar. It's a metaphorical expression, but it could literally mean a literary writer who writes with a pen, or a journalist who writes for a newspaper.
However, we need to reconsider Dmitry's position once more. Dmitry is a duke, the second-highest-ranking person in the Minerva Empire after the emperor, and is naturally closely connected to 'politics.'
In other words, the person holding the pen that Dmitry mentioned is most likely a 'politician.' But since he used a metaphorical expression, we should take it as encompassing all of those meanings.
Above all, I could roughly guess what intention Dmitry had in asking the question. He must be referring to the book that had exerted such a tremendous influence on the cultural world that it was beginning to seep slowly into everyday life: The Chronicle of Xenon.
There had never been a book that could turn the entire world upside down, so as someone who wielded a pen, it was clearly something I had to be wary of.
'I can't help but be careful.'
If someone wants to feel the power of the pen, they don't have to look far. There is Hitler, a name no one from Earth could possibly be unfamiliar with and the central figure of World War II.
Hitler maximized the power of the pen, brainwashing all of Germany and using it however he pleased, then went even further and started World War II. That single war engulfed all of Europe in flames and later helped awaken the two giants known as the United States and the Soviet Union.
If something this horrific could happen with just one country, what if the influence extended across the entire world? Naturally, I could not help but be wary...
