'Festival' is one of the indispensable concepts in human history.
Even today, but especially in ancient times, 'farming' was an important means of survival, so people were sensitive to the changes in nature from season to season. Even in environments where farming was impossible, the surroundings still changed with each season.
Because of these seasonal changes, people believed that the 'gods' must have intervened and offered sacrifices to them. The customs that arose from offering these sacrifices became festivals.
As time passed and civilization developed, festivals began taking various forms. Festivals held while offering sacrifices to the gods continued, but as history accumulated, people began assigning special meaning to special days.
Among the famous types of festivals were, of course, 'founding festivals' and New Year's festivals. A founding festival embodied the meaning of overcoming all sorts of hardships and adversity as a nation, so it would be no exaggeration to call it the grandest festival of all.
Yet even such founding festivals were no match for New Year's festivals. The New Year held a variety of meanings for everyone, regardless of race, so it naturally had to be the largest festival of all.
As I said before, 'festivals' are an indispensable part of human history, and they are still being held today.
Then what was the most important thing when organizing a festival these days?
Holy sacrifices to offer the gods? Capital to fund a magnificent festival? A variety of attractions?
None of them. A festival only takes on its true meaning when 'people' gather together to enjoy themselves...
