As I mentioned before, being an artist is a profession that leaves you hungry. You need tools to create your work, and even those tools are far from cheap.

Moreover, artists tend to have firm convictions and philosophies of their own, so they often discard their completed works. As a result, money keeps flowing out while the quality of their work suffers, creating a vicious cycle.

Because of this, people came to view art as a culture enjoyed only by nobles. Unless a noble indulged excessively in gambling or extravagance, money was practically overflowing, so working in the art world was no trouble at all.

That is why, when you look at famous artists, most of them are nobles from middle-class or wealthier families, or wealthy merchant houses known for their fortunes. For a long time, art was the exclusive possession of the nobility, and orchestras and theater troupes were no different.

However, after the Jeyros Revolution broke out in the Kingdom of Ters, culture spread throughout the entire population, and more commoners and people from the lower classes began throwing themselves into the art world.

Of course, unless they possessed extraordinary genius, succeeding was practically impossible, and most of them squandered their money before giving up.

To continue pursuing art, you need money, yet you can only earn money if there are people who recognize the value of your work. Artists were forced to face that kind of ironic situation.

Even so, there are always artists who steadily continue creating works of their own. Many artists chose honor over money in the first place, so they simply cannot bring themselves to quit.

That is why artists from commoner or lower-class backgrounds tend to be fiercely driven, with firm convictions and philosophies of their own. On top of that, they possess inexhaustible patience and stamina.

There are only two possible outcomes for people like that. They either endure until they are exhausted and collapse, or they eventually succeed and etch their names into the public's memory...
