This Is What Propaganda Looks Like

Once again, the world fell silent.

The additional three seconds granted to me. In other words, thirty seconds.

Second Lieutenant Julien was already subdued, sprawled on the floor. The only ones left were the five defeated soldiers in the back, blankly aiming their guns.

I slipped between them as though dancing.

The first one. He was holding an old bolt-action rifle. I grabbed the rifle's bolt assembly and forcibly twisted it free. The chunk of metal came apart in my hand like a toy.

The second one. He was trying to pull out a grenade. I unfastened his entire ammunition belt and let it fall to the floor.

The third, fourth, and fifth.

I stripped all of them of their primary weapons. I considered gathering the extracted bolt assemblies and magazines and throwing them out the window, but for a more dramatic presentation, I dumped them in a clatter onto Second Lieutenant Julien's office desk.
