The rescue party seemed to be arriving even later than I'd expected.

Night passed. They didn't come even by dawn.

As time passed, it was only after I killed four magical beasts on par with One-Eye, the first beast I'd encountered, that figures who appeared to be the rescue party finally came into view in the distance with the sunrise.

Large catfolk approached me.

From the way they approached with fierce glints in their eyes, I could guess what misunderstanding they'd gotten into.

There I stood with ten catfolk children.

This was certainly a scene easy enough to misunderstand.

I heard the voices of catfolk warriors approaching briskly from afar.

“So it was that bastard—the one who kidnapped our children!”

“We must kill him!”...
