The Imperial Palace was like the last bastion of the Imperial capital.
It was the final defensive stronghold built in preparation for the day the capital's gates were breached and an enemy army invaded. The Iron Empire, which had once ruled the continent and even reached across the sea, had made these walls incredibly thick.
Standing roughly 11 to 12 meters high and 4.5 to 6 meters thick, they had been built with alternating layers of stone and brick to absorb earthquake shocks, and thirty defensive towers standing about 20 meters tall had been positioned along them.
A sturdy fortress capable of holding out for several months, no matter what happened. That was what the walls of the Imperial Palace were.
That was why commoners had never once been able to see what lay beyond them.
The interior of the Imperial Palace was a special space permitted only to nobles, a lofty place where commoners were not even allowed to cast their eyes.
No one could easily imagine those tall, thick walls collapsing. People believed they would spend their entire lives seeing nothing but those walls.
Until the Southern Army's tank corps unleashed a concentrated barrage all at once.
In the face of a barrage of 76mm tank shells, walls reinforced over countless years were utterly meaningless.
