A New Fighter

The Empire Air Force's first monoplane fighter, the YF-05 'Sky Lancer'

Named the Lancer of the Skies, this fighter was, as its name suggests, the Empire's new mainstay, taking over from the Wyvern Knights.

True to its name, its specifications were downright outrageous for the era.

Single-engine, single-seat monoplane fighter.

At 8.6 meters long with a 10.5-meter wingspan, it was less than a quarter the size of a Wyvern, but the engine it carried was truly incredible.

The 900-horsepower magitech engine gave it an empty weight of about 2,000 kg and a maximum takeoff weight of 2,500 kg. Its top speed was 400 km/h, its maximum altitude about 7,000 meters, and its maximum range 800 km.

No Wyvern knight had ever reached such heights.

Of course, gaining such overwhelming speed meant its payload had to be reduced.

Unlike Wyverns, which could easily lift about a ton of bombs, these aircraft could carry at most two 100-kg aerial bombs.

Its guns were not the standard 7.7 mm aircraft machine guns, either; it was equipped with 20 mm autocannons...
