Time to Tell Her

Enri faced Max and spoke cautiously.

Looking around, Max saw that she must have forced the bodyguards to keep their distance before approaching him.

“···Would it be all right if we talked for a moment?”

“Of course.”

Enri Crimsonhowl felt guilty toward Max Steiger, so she had deliberately avoided meeting him.

She hadn’t expected things to turn out this way, but she knew what Max’s position in the Steiger family had been. She also knew that after keeping her distance from his father, Layton Steiger, her remarriage had become the trigger that forced them to face each other.

From Enri’s perspective, Max had been used and dragged into the situation. Even now that he was head of the family, it couldn’t have been a pleasant position to be in.

But Max held no ill will toward Enri.

He could understand how Enri had struggled and fought desperately for Flora. He knew it was an ordinary, common occurrence in Haze.
