Yeah, Yeah...! I Really, Really Like It!

Normally, a school trip is one of the few times in school life when you’re allowed to have fun without worrying about getting in trouble.

…Though I never got to experience one in my previous life.

I was a little frail, and after I went on a middle school retreat in my first year and had to come home after just three hours because of health problems, Mom worried about me and wouldn’t let me go again.

I only missed one other trip, in my second year of middle school. After that, COVID made it impossible to go even when I wanted to, so I can’t say that was the reason—but I couldn’t help regretting that I’d missed my only chance.

‘Everyone else would talk about their school trips, and I couldn’t join in at all. All I could do was pretend to sleep and listen to them around me…!’

Whenever I happened to hear that a few classmates had started dating, all I could think was, ‘…When?’ And when I heard they’d started dating on their school trip, I felt so left out. It made me feel awful…!

That was why, now that I was healthier than I’d been back then, I couldn’t help wanting to make up for it by going on every school trip and retreat I could.

“A school trip…!”

“You like school trips that much?”

“Yeah, yeah…! I really, really like them!”...
