While I was walking, gripping Carbo by the collar.

Upon leaving the village, rapid footsteps followed close behind.

"That's far enough."

It was a low voice, uttered threateningly.

But it couldn't hide the tremor in the voice.

The traveling merchant's guard adventurer stepped in front of me.

She wore a pair of swords at her waist beneath her cloak.

Judging by the look of recognition she'd given me back in the village, she was fairly high-ranked.
