Arriving at the First Village in the Open World

The wagon rattled along a dirt road before rolling onto a firmly packed paved one.

After several days of nonstop travel, we reached a village.

A wooden palisade, tall enough to be called a wall, firmly encircled the village. The guards at the entrance were armed no less well than the average soldiers in Leator.

Upon reaching the village, I handed over the women we'd rescued from the orc bandits' hideout to the village guards.

When we reported the news at the checkpoint, the guards' faces brightened.

Perhaps he recognized one of the victims; the veteran himself was manning the checkpoint while leaving the handover to his junior.

We were escorted directly to the guard post, where I handed the women over to the guards.

The victims' faces brightened as the tarp over the wagon bed was pulled back and they saw the village and its people. After days of being held down and raped, they couldn't put strength in their legs and staggered.
