The heavy doors of the Council of Elders' main meeting chamber slammed shut.
“Now that everyone’s assembled, let's begin the emergency meeting.”
At the head of the chamber sat two chairs, reserved for the two Magistrates. The Elf woman seated in the left chair called the meeting to order.
“I will now introduce the agenda. Yesterday, there was a break-in at the Council of Elders.”
Every Elf focused on the voice of the Primera Family Head, a Magistrate and one of the leaders of the Three Great Families, who stood at the pinnacle of power.
“The intruders bypassed all security measures and entered the children's sanctuary located within the main Council building. Fortunately, most of the children were away, but two were abducted. They then sent us a statement, identifying themselves as Balaclava.”

She snapped her fingers, and a large screen displayed a yellowish piece of paper with scrawled handwriting.
“We have the children. If you want their safety, meet our demands. First…”...
