At those incredibly cruel words, I looked at Lorraine without a word.

Lorraine paused for a moment, as if choosing her words carefully, before continuing.

“As you know, Young Master, the environment of The North is so harsh that ordinary people must abandon many things in Order to survive.”

I had seen it mentioned before that it was a natural choice, as they couldn’t survive otherwise.

“Generally, in other places, men often sacrifice themselves to save women and children, but in The North, it is often the opposite. That is because it is impossible for women and children to procure food in the harsh environment of The North.”

There was a time when such words appeared in the original work.

- When the harsh northern winds strike The North, the food for the elderly and the weak is the first to be reduced.

Taking away the food of the weak, let alone the elderly, is an act that dooms the future.

If they did not pool their food for the one most capable of procuring food, they would all be destined to starve to death...
