Rooftop Chase

This was no time to be leisurely. As I was startled and turned to run,

CRACK!

came the sound of the floor breaking from behind.

That persistent patrol officer had really followed me all the way up to the rooftop without even a ladder.

How on earth was I supposed to shake her off?

There was more than one obstacle.

First, the biggest problem I faced was that I was fleeing at full speed, but the building’s rooftop space was limited, meaning I couldn’t just keep running forever.

The end was already approaching.

Beyond the concrete ledge, the dirty street was visible. If I fell, even if I didn’t die, several bones would break.

But I couldn’t stop, and I couldn’t slow down either. I could feel the patrol officer catching up with my speed and gradually getting closer...
