No, is that some sort of Schneider Family trait? I could understand Team Leader Hank slapping my cheek. But why on earth did Alexandra slap another noble family’s young lady?
For a moment, I even wondered if that was some kind of greeting method trending in the noble society.
You know, like in France, where they have that unique greeting of alternating cheeks and making a kissing sound when meeting someone familiar.
Wouldn’t it be a similar feeling? Either way, it involves using the cheeks. It’s just that the method is aggressive.
Of course, it wasn’t.
SMACK!!! With an accurate stance and a crisp snap similar to when Team Leader Hank-nim hit me, Matilda Sedouforne’s cheek swelled red as she collapsed with a thud.
As she was shedding bewildered tears before she even had time to scream, it was clear that Matilda of the Sedouforne Family did not welcome the Schneiders' aggressive greeting method.
Just from the murmuring sounds around us, it was definitely not the average behavior of noble society.
I asked cautiously.
“…Is she allowed to do that?”
I didn’t remember anything like that, but maybe there was an unwritten rule or immunity stating that a Schneider Family member could slap someone from another noble family if there was a justifiable reason.
Or perhaps the opposing family was so insignificant compared to the Schneider Family that they couldn’t even protest after getting slapped out of nowhere. I asked, harboring such faint hopes.
Naturally, those hopes were shattered to pieces.
“Of course not. Sedouforne is a pretty big family, even if it isn’t quite at our level.”
So it would be fine if they weren’t a big family. Truly amazing Dusk, amazing Schneider.
How did I end up getting involved with such a reckless noble family!
“Ah, I thought the young lady had matured a bit, but she’s caused another major incident like this… Anyway, it’s always like this whenever the Young Lady goes out. What kind of scolding is she going to hear from the head of the family when we return?”
I looked at Ms. Kali in disbelief at her grumbling.
No, is this the time to be worrying leisurely about getting scolded by the head of the family? The young lady we’re serving just busted the cheek of another family’s child!
This isn’t just on the level of a major incident, it’s practically a nuclear bomb!
Did she lose her mind because something too big happened? Why is she so calm!
“What do we do now? We need to take the young lady right away… No, more importantly, we should offer some kind of explanation or apology to that family -”
It seemed I was the only one in a hurry.
Ms. Kali wrapped her arm around my shoulder as if she understood my bewildered feelings and said:
“Don’t worry. I was similar when I first joined, but you get used to it as time goes on. It’s not a one or two-day thing, and the team leader will handle it well. We just need to stand back and look imposing without stepping up and getting in the way unnecessarily.”
Do you think we’re called the Security Team of Death for nothing? We’re sick and tired of cleaning up after the young lady. This is quite a big deal, but… we’ve resolved much worse accidents, and since the Team Leader is the top ace among us, he’ll figure it out somehow.”
They’ve resolved much worse accidents? Just what kind of place is Security Team 4…
When I first heard the nickname Security Team of Death, I just laughed it off, but I don’t think I can do that anymore.
If this is her being mature, just how bad was Alexandra Schneider’s prime tomboy era…
Suddenly, rejecting the exclusive samurai offer started to feel like the absolute best choice in the world.
“Young Lady, you were too heavy-handed. The head of the family didn’t lift your probation for you to do this.”
Team Leader Hank-nim popped out and grabbed the wrist of Alexandra, who was still huffing as if her anger hadn’t fully dissipated even after delivering a refreshing slap to Matilda Sedouforne.
When he mentioned the only person she feared, her father, Family Head Eugene Schneider, Alexandra obediently stopped being angry and pouted her lips.
“…Team Leader Hank-nim, I have no face to show. I promised father I wouldn’t cause trouble… But it couldn’t be helped. That poison frog-like bitch kept getting on my nerves. I think she acted like that because she felt she was no longer the center of attention once I appeared. Anyway, I haven’t liked her for a while.”
She said this while glaring at Matilda Sedouforne, who was sprawled on the floor. Team Leader Hank-nim sighed and said…
“You should have held back a little. The settlement money the family has to pay because of you would be more than enough to acquire a solid corporation.”
Last time you crushed the testicles of a man who was hitting on you, and this time it just had to be Sedouforne… What was the problem this time? Did that girl badmouth you behind your back? Or did she insult the family?”
Judging from what Team Leader Hank-nim was saying, it really didn’t seem like a one-time occurrence.
It seemed she had quite a track record of beating up people from other noble families at social skills gatherings.
Then again, this was Alexandra, who fought against the Luddite Gang; with that physique, what couldn’t she do…
“I would have held back if she had just insulted me. I have at least that much patience! But this was that bitch’s fault. She crossed the line first.”
Alexandra had been shrinking back and reading the room, knowing she was in the wrong, but at the team leader’s words, her anger flared up again and she yelled.
Just how far did she cross the line for her hand to shoot out and slap her cheek first?
“She didn’t insult me, she insulted my bodyguards. She mentioned the ones who died recently and mocked me, asking just how pathetic the bodyguards I carry around are. Saying that if they could be taken down by the Machine Destruction Gang, the Schneider Family must be completely washed up… She can insult me. But I cannot tolerate her insulting those who laid down their lives for me. Isn’t that right, Team Leader Hank-nim?”
…She had every right to be angry.
Team Leader Hank-nim must be feeling uncomfortable as well. Wasn’t he the leader of Team 4, who led the bodyguards that died in the Luddite Gang’s terrorist attack?
“…Hah. You are right, but even so -”
“Cannot tolerate my ass. Did I say anything wrong? I called pathetic things pathetic, and washed-up things washed-up!”
What? Poison frog? A wild boar-like bitch who knows nothing but using brute force dares to lay a hand on me! Do you want to die!”
That startled me.
Matilda Sedouforne, who I thought was just lying there after getting beaten by Alexandra, stood up with a bloody nose, cut off Team Leader Hank-nim’s words, and shrieked.
Alexandra was one thing, but this young lady’s temper seemed to be nothing to scoff at either.
“Yeah, try and kill me. How are you going to kill me? By crying your eyes out and telling your daddy? You pathetic bitch. The only thing you know how to do is bawl, isn’t it?”
“A crazy bitch who knows nothing but violence is running her mouth just because she has a mouth! You will pay dearly for attacking me today!”
“Get your facts straight. How was that an attack? I just gently caressed you, but you’re so frail that you’re making a fuss over a little tap - Mmph!”
It was truly a clash of titans. The one who stopped the bickering between the two noble family young ladies, neither of whom yielded an inch, was Team Leader Hank-nim.
He risked committing a discourtesy by grabbing Alexandra’s mouth to quiet her down and then pulling her back.
While Ms. Kali and I naturally took over and held onto Young Lady Alexandra, Team Leader Hank-nim stepped forward with an unnatural smile on his lips and bowed to Matilda Sedouforne.
“Young Lady Sedouforne, I apologize. Young Lady Alexandra surely did not do this intentionally. The Schneider Family promises to fully compensate for the damages you have suffered from this incident using all possible means.”
Furthermore, Young Lady Alexandra will sincerely apologize, even on her knees if necessary, to soothe the wounded heart of the victim, Young Lady Sedouforne. Isn’t that right, Young Lady?”
As he said that and looked back, Young Lady Alexandra naturally tried to resist, but at the hand signal sent by the team leader, Ms. Kali grabbed the back of her neck like handling a disobedient cat and forced Alexandra’s head up and down to nod.
At any other time, I would have wondered, “Wait, is a bodyguard allowed to treat his or her escort target this roughly?”, but considering the accident Alexandra caused, I felt this much was a given.
If there was one thing I overlooked here, it was that the opponent, Matilda Sedouforne, was just as formidable as Alexandra, or perhaps even more so in a way.
SLAP!!!
Is today some kind of slapping festival? Am I in a K-drama world right now instead of a Cyberpunk World?
Matilda Sedouforne strode forward and slapped the cheek of Team Leader Hank-nim, who was politely bowing at a 90-degree angle to apologize. And she did so not just once, but twice, no, three times in a row.
Seeing that, Young Lady Alexandra, who was being held by Ms. Kali, got excited and tried to lunge forward, and I had to join in to barely calm her down.
She spoke to Team Leader Hank-nim, who stood there with his head bowed without wavering even after getting slapped in the face several times out of nowhere.
“Where does a lowly thing like you get off opening your stinking mouth? Your interrupting when masters are talking makes the level of the Schneider Family obvious. Then again, with incompetent bodyguards, there’s no way the security team leader or the higher-ups would be any different… Hmph. Get lost.”
…At this point, I think I know why she called her a poison frog-like bitch.
