After our intense sex, I went out into the nearby forest to clear my head. A huge full moon hung in the sky. The cloudless night was bright enough to illuminate even the dark forest.

“It’s quiet.”

I couldn’t even hear the sound of insects.

After being so busy lately, I welcomed the silence. It was as if my brain, exhausted from using magic too much, was rejoicing at finally getting some rest. There was a reason mages took long breaks lasting several months after finishing their research.

Just awakening magical power extended one’s lifespan, and reaching higher realms let one live even longer. Rather than focusing on small, immediate gains, mages tended to take things easy and aim for greater achievements years down the line.

‘Maybe I’ll take it easy for a while after this match ends and I return to Earth.’

Of course, with my admission to the Mage Tower just around the corner, I wouldn’t have much time to relax. Still, when it came to things like this, what mattered was getting into the right frame of mind.

I continued walking through the forest, lost in trivial thoughts. After walking for a while, I found myself wishing Cheon Yeo-hwa were beside me. But I couldn’t exactly drag along someone who said her back hurt and that she needed to rest.
