We gathered in front of the Gate.

The heads of the noble families stood at the front, followed by an elite force of commoners and nobles mixed together.

Since this was no easy operation, the formation was designed to make efficient use of everyone, regardless of rank.

Including me, the assassin-class pathfinders were assigned to watch the enemy’s movements from the tip of the formation.

They were responsible for signaling a retreat or defending against surprise attacks in an emergency.

'......This was probably a first, but they were quick to arrange everyone.'

Before we entered, Wasaburo Shimizu, the overall commander, gave one final warning.

"Again, do not go ahead of the others! The family heads will keep entering and exiting until everyone has gathered in the S-rank passage. Even if something happens, don't panic—hold your position!"

The order had been given because of the unfavorable circumstances of the crossover Gate.

The A-rank side was no less dangerous than the S-rank Gate itself...
