#7. The Ball and Two Men (7)

Outside the annex, bright lights shone beyond its great glass windows.

In stark contrast to the glittering annex,

two silhouettes crossed the grounds through the deepening dusk.

Leaving Eugenie and Christian, who had followed them, at the annex entrance,

the woman in the sky-blue dress walked along a path between the garden flowerbeds, escorted by the man in the white coat.

The distinctive blue light spilling from the low magic-stone lamps passed through the flowerbeds’ translucent petals, enveloping the two of them in an air of mystery.

Perhaps it was because of that atmosphere.

As they walked side by side, they had reached the middle of the long path without exchanging a single word.

“It’s been a while, my lady.”
