Chapter 34: The Ring

The ring kept drawing my gaze, glinting from different angles as my hand slowly turned.

I kept looking at my hand as I walked and nearly bumped into people several times,

but Chris helped me each time, so no mishaps came of it.

He had every reason to get annoyed by the repeated incidents, but Chris only smiled.

"Well, look at that, miss! Got yourself a ring, have you? You're grinning from ear to ear. This is a gift because you're so pretty, so go share it with your husband."

On our way back to the inn, quite a few people gave us gifts like that.

When we arrived, we went into the room on the second floor that we'd been assigned earlier.

In the middle of the room, Maria and Aria, who'd returned before us, were sorting through a mountain of snacks while chewing away.

"Wow, this is really something. I see this all the time, but I never get used to it."

"Yeah... How much of the money Aunt Stella gave us is left?"...
