Chapter 49: Emotions

I was used to going to bed early and waking up early, so I usually got up while it was still a little dark at dawn.

Today, when I struggled to open my eyes, it was brighter than usual.

I slept in.

My head hurts.

I woke to an unfamiliar headache and a queasy stomach, then realized I was under the covers, holding Chris.

Slowly pulling back the blanket, I saw bright sunlight streaming in through the window.
