Chapter 55: On the Way North

I struggled to open my eyes.

My whole body creaked and screamed in protest.

I forced myself upright, and bright sunlight streamed through the window and fell on me.

Chris had been something else when he was angry.

The proof was that I hadn't managed to wake until noon.

By contrast, the space beside me was empty.

The bed and my body were clean.

Chris must have washed me, but what about the bed?
