Their work was remarkably efficient. It was not quite a case of watching the dojo vanish before my eyes, but the dismantling proceeded at high speed.
They were a group of carpenters recommended by the Smiths' Guild, so their skill was beyond question.
This was exactly the sort of thing people meant when they talked about the power of connections.
When Kaeha was about to set out as an adventurer, I proposed rebuilding this dojo.
After all, I had been entrusted with the care of her precious mother, and I did not want to do anything that would keep me away from her side for too long.
But then I would not be able to properly take on the smithing work requested by the Smiths' Guild, so I decided to build a forge right here on the grounds.
Since we were building anyway, rebuilding the dojo at the same time would be easier, as the work would be finished in a single undertaking, and, more importantly, it would cost less.
Of course, a construction project large enough to rebuild the dojo would consume nearly all the money I had on hand, but once the forge was complete, I could accept work from the Smiths' Guild and earn a decent income, so I was not particularly worried.
Kaeha looked terribly apologetic, but this was more for my own sake than for hers, so there was no problem...
