Once the workshop was up and running, the first thing we decided on was a drawing format.

“A format?”

Perhaps they didn’t like deciding on a format before even touching the machines. Everyone’s eyes widened as they stared at me.

But I thought deciding on a format was even more important than getting the workshop running. Drawing standards differed from one workshop to another in this era. I could understand using first-angle projection instead of third-angle projection, but this backward nineteenth century was so primitive that even its drawings were shoddy.

‘No geometric tolerances or datums. What kind of drawing is this...’

And so, I brought the innovation of ISO to this backward nineteenth century.

“I made this format. Make sure you use it.”

It included fields for each part’s number and the reason for each revision.

Keller and Neumann looked over the format and continued to marvel at it.

“This is quite well put together, isn’t it?”...
