For all that incredible detection magic, the results seemed to have been rather disappointing.

At the end of Alley Six, Kairos, whose expression had been stiff with tension, turned straight to me and gave me an awkward smile.

I gave Kairos’s dejected-looking back a couple of unnecessary pats.
