That evening, after Kuina had the servants prepare dinner, she could clearly sense that something was amiss in the palace.
Normally, when the First Prince, the Second Prince, and Mu Chen were in the palace, they all ate together. But today, after she sent servants to notify them, only Lance strolled into the dining room at his leisure. The other two had shut themselves in their rooms, and she had no idea what they were busy with.
Kuina had no choice but to go ask them each in turn.
“Knock, knock.”
When Wright’s door was knocked on, he was sitting at his desk, head bent over documents from Kenalun Military Base concerning the abnormal magnetic field signals detected at the border over the past three days.
Seeing how busy he was, Kuina waited by the doorway for a moment before tentatively asking, “Your Highness, are you busy? Is this urgent?”
Wright slowly lifted his gaze from his terminal. His lips pressed together, and after a moment of silence, he said, “Mm...”
What he was dealing with was indeed official business, but it could hardly be called urgent. The local officers had personally reported these matters to him one by one earlier, and Wright had already issued orders for each of them. These documents merely provided detailed written accounts of those reports, with a fair amount of tedious detail. It wouldn’t matter if he didn’t read them.
Wright usually used his spare moments to go through the documents that had piled up over the week. It wasn’t as though he had to use dinner time for it.
Handling official business was only an excuse for not going to dinner...
