They even thought that if Wright decided to marry someone, he might buy a ring in the morning, propose in the afternoon, and announce the engagement that evening.
They just never imagined that one day, this assumption would actually come true.
Wright had wanted to do exactly that, but Mu Chen was still in his courtship period, and both his emotions and physical condition were unstable, so those plans had to be postponed.
As it turned out, the merman wasn’t the only one affected by the courtship period. Wright was just as unable to tear himself away.
For the past few days, Mu Chen had wanted to do nothing but stay in Wright’s bedroom. He wouldn’t even go out to eat, had driven all the attendants from the chambers, and was hostile toward everyone but Wright—like a big cat so annoyed by a stranger on the street that it might hiss and bristle at any moment.
But once back in his warm nest, it instantly became a dragon jealously guarding its treasure, utterly unreasonable. The merman had piled up blankets, quilts, and clothes to make a nest that wasn’t very attractive but felt reassuring, then claimed Wright as his “possession,” keeping him cooped up inside with him.
It was nine in the morning. The heavy curtains blocked out the sunlight that should have brightened the room.
A hand with prominent knuckles emerged from beneath the covers. Wright lifted his heavy eyelids and glanced at his terminal, then lay back down.
Usually, by this time, he’d already be sweating through his workout with a trainer...
