The motor of the elevator hummed very faintly.

This space, powered for the first time in half a year, was too luxurious to simply call a narrow metal box.

A subtly glowing gold-metal frame.

Clear full-length mirrors covered the entire walls. There was even a smooth black-and-white marble pattern across the floor.

I stood still inside that square metal box.

“How long has it been since I last rode an elevator...”
