Chapter 18

Chapter 18 - Inferiority Complex

As expected, I can enter.

The interior of the black sphere that Kailyn and Daphne couldn't enter. But I could freely enter such an interior. I wasn't particularly surprised by this fact.

I had already expected this would be the case.

After all, this spirit appeared because of me. Is it natural?

This spirit was one that revealed itself in response to my existence. Therefore, I must be the purpose in some way. That was why there was no need to be surprised.

I just had a calm reaction.

"This is quite surprising...!"

Of course, the two people watching this scene couldn't be calm at all. Daphne, with sparkling eyes, continued speaking as if the current situation was incredibly mysterious.

"Did you perhaps receive permission? But how did you get permission?"

As if she couldn't understand at all. She said getting permission from a spirit was absolutely not an ordinary thing. Daphne asked me to tell her the secret.

"...How did you? How did you do it?"

Moreover, Kailyn also showed considerable bewilderment. She probably didn't expect me to have such an ability. It was natural to be surprised when an unexpected person suddenly did something amazing in an unexpected situation.

Kailyn also asked me to tell her how I could get permission from the spirit. Of course, I couldn't tell her.

"I just went in."

"Is that really all?"

"Yeah."

"Really?"

"That's what I said."

I decided to brush it off casually. How could I say that I was chosen by the spirit because I was a reincarnator and thus extremely rare? I had absolutely no intention of revealing to anyone that I was a reincarnator.

So I just insisted that I didn't know either, but...

"..."

Kailyn didn't just believe those words. She was glaring at me with suspicious and disdainful eyes.

But whether she did that or not. I didn't have any need to care about Kailyn's feelings. We were about to get divorced, anyway.

"I think I'll go in now."

Anyway, now that I could enter like this. I was thinking of going into the spirit's interior. There might be a clue to solve this problem.

So just as I was about to step in, Kailyn spoke up as if this situation was very unpleasant to her, "I recommend not going in."

"Why?"

Kailyn suddenly telling me not to go in. I asked her the reason for saying that.

And Kailyn answered as if it was obvious, "Isn't it obvious? That spirit is probably trying to eat you. That's why it's letting one easy-looking guy pass through."

She said the spirit definitely didn't let me pass with pure intentions. She told me not to go in because something would happen to me. That if I went in, I wouldn't meet a good fate.

At first glance, it might seem like she's worried about me, but...

Is it an inferiority complex?

Given her personality, it was probably not because she was worried about me. I thought the true meaning of those words was closer to still looking down on me. She was probably not happy with this situation where I was chosen by the spirit when she, who couldn't do it, wasn't chosen.

Why is she expressing her inferiority complex towards me?

This kind of behavior always appeared in the original story too. Kailyn never acknowledged people superior to her. She always tried to belittle them and undermine their talents and efforts.

Let's ignore it.

From my perspective, having seen the original story, it was quite a familiar sight, but... To think I would become the target of it... It was quite absurd and strange, but...

I didn't care whether Kailyn felt inferior to me or hated me.

"I think it won't be like that, so I'm going in."

"What?"

"I said I'm going in."

I had already decided to go in. Kailyn's opinion wasn't important at all in that decision.

"...Do as you please. And I even gave you advice."

Kailyn said to do so. She spoke as if telling me to pay dearly for ignoring her advice. Just as a somewhat cold atmosphere was about to flow...

"Um... Both of you, please don't fight... You should get along well... Why are you fighting?"

In this atmosphere, Daphne timidly interjected in a small voice. Telling us not to fight.

"It's not like that. I'll research in a different way on my own."

Kailyn denied it after hearing those words. She left the place as if annoyed. Saying she would find a way to solve this situation on her own.

After she left, Daphne bowed her head to me and apologized on Kailyn's behalf.

"Uh... Kailyn said that because she's worried... Please don't be angry."

She said Kailyn was absolutely not a bad person. That what she just said was out of concern for me. So she said any feeling of her picking a fight was definitely a misunderstanding.

What would she know?

Of course, that was Daphne's misunderstanding. She was completely blinded by Kailyn, her first friend. Thinking again, Daphne was really pitiful.

I wished she would realize soon what kind of person Kailyn was.

"Yeah, well."

I didn't have anything particular to say. Time would solve everything anyway. Soon, she'd be properly backstabbed by Kailyn, and from that point on, Daphne would gradually realize what kind of person Kailyn was, so I just needed to wait.

"I'm going in now."

Anyway, there was something more important right now.

This time, I was really going to enter the spirit's interior. After loosening up a bit, I told Daphne I was going in.

"Please be careful. I don't think it will eat you or anything like that, but it could still be dangerous."

"Yes, I understand."

Receiving Daphne's worry and encouragement, I entered the spirit's interior.

***

There's nothing special?

I entered the spirit's interior through what was called the entrance. After entering and looking around, there wasn't anything particularly special. It was just the appearance of the church I always visited.

Is this fortunate?

Seeing the familiar appearance of the church, I felt a bit relieved.

Actually, from the perspective of entering a spirit's interior, I wasn't without worries. Putting aside cases like it attacking me, I was worried about what if the spirit's interior was a space where space-time was distorted, or a space where grotesque creatures crawled around.

I thought that if worst comes to worst, I could blast it away with the Spirit Sword, but still, if there were such things, it would be scary, right? I think it's really fortunate that it's so ordinary.

I hope Eleana is doing well at home?

And I also thought it was fortunate that Eleana wasn't involved in this incident. Actually, Eleana usually stayed at the church with Levia, but because of the magic tower people, I left Eleana at my house for now.

Thanks to that, she wouldn't be involved. If Eleana had been involved, I wouldn't be able to be this calm. That part was really fortunate.

Anyway, now that I've entered the spirit's interior like this.

By the way, what should I do here?

I didn't know what to do from now on either. Should I call out to the spirit now that I had entered? I thought about it, but...

I didn't even know how to call it. Because of that, I was feeling a bit frustrated when the spirit revealed itself first.

"Beep beep."

An object that looked like a black ball of fur was floating in the air. And upon discovering me, it made a sound. Maybe that was the spirit?

It's my first time seeing it in person.

Seeing the spirit's appearance, I felt somewhat fascinated. It felt very mysterious. Although I had talked a lot with the Spirit Sword, I had never seen its appearance, so seeing it in person for the first time was quite interesting.

I wonder if the Spirit Sword would look like that if it revealed its appearance? Just as I was having such a small curiosity...

"Beep beep beep...!"

Do I have to fight?

I started preparing for battle. For now, I didn't know if this spirit was friendly towards me or not. Above all, didn't this spirit attack the magic tower's mages and create this black sphere?

Because of that, I had to be somewhat cautious.

[I don't think you need to be cautious?]

"What?"

But I heard unexpected words.

[That spirit seems to want to make a formal contract with you.]
