The Imperial Palace was vast and complex.

I could well understand that it was dazzling and luxurious, with gold sparkling and marble shining.

But with similar corridors and servants of similar appearance coming and going, I couldn't tell if this was where I had been earlier or a place I was visiting for the first time. I was merely following closely at the rear end of the Head Maid.
