Pastel's eyes snapped open in bed.
"Hueh?"
Drool trickled down the corner of her mouth.
I was definitely just face-to-face with the Fairy, so why am I suddenly in bed?
As she pressed down on the bed with her hands, she felt the bounce of the special bed made for Governor-General Pastel.
Gasp, it's a real bed.
She wiped the drool with her sleeve. With messy hair, she sat up.
Ugh.
"It must have been a dream. I mean, there's no such thing as a fairy in reality."
I must be smart to realize it right away.
―It wasn't a dream!
"Uwaak!"
Startled, Pastel turned her head toward the bedside table.
The Fairy, exuding a Black Aura, was sitting in the flowerpot and staring at her. The pink flower in the pot rotted into a purplish color and dropped off with a tap.
"Gasp, Fairy?"
It wasn't a dream!
―That's right! I'm a Fairy!
The Fairy crossed her arms and nodded.
Nod, nod.
―A righteous Fairy who brings good luck to good people and bad luck to bad people!
The Fairy gave Pastel a look.
―And from my perspective, you have been chosen! Chosen to save the fate of the Fairy World!
"Really?!"
So that was it?!
I knew something was weird!
I was born Pink-Pink, but from the moment I gained consciousness, the situation I was in wasn't Pink-Pink at all, and even now, the things I have to do aren't Pink-Pink!
But that was actually just a build-up to save the Fairy World!
Shock.
Pastel gained enlightenment once again.
No wonder! No wonder!
Money and power are great, but I thought they were too much of a mismatch with my innate appearance!
But it was actually a Divine Revelation to pursue the Pink-Pink money and power of the Fairy World!
Pastel neatly folded her hands and sent a sparkling gaze.
"What should I do?"
Should we launch a market economy attack on the pure Fairy World?
Instigate inflation in the Fairy World using exchange rate differences and product gaps.
Gasp!
No, no!
The Pink-Pink, fluttering Pastel is taking on the evil suits of the financial world who are targeting the pure Fairy World?!
Hiya, hiya!
Take the strike of the Pink-Pink Pastel...!
Introduction of the Foreign Exchange Management Act! hot money control! investment inflow restriction! capital gains tax increase! remittance purpose restriction! currency swap! interest rate cut! government bond purchase!
The Fairy looked satisfied.
―Mhm! You and I communicate well, don't we? You have a very important mission!
"Please tell me!"
Pastel raised one hand high.
"I, Pastel, will dedicate my body for the stability of the Fairy World!"
I will become a Founding Contributor!
―What you urgently need to do for me is...
The Fairy said with a serious expression.
Thump, thump.
―To provide a place for me to stay!
Gasp, too realistic.
The Fairy was currently homeless.
No wonder its name was Fairy.
"Don't worry! There are plenty of places around me for a little fairy to stay! Stay anywhere you like to your heart's content!"
The relatively wealthy Pastel!
The Fairy smiled brightly.
―Oh, really?
"Yes!"
Pastel nodded. Then she paused, wondering if she needed to get Lord Demon's permission to bring in a new family member.
"Are you awake?"
Right on time, Lord Demon entered the room.
"Ah! Lord Demon! You came at the perfect time! Here, the Fairy is...!"
Pastel pointed at the flowerpot where the Fairy had been sitting, but panicked at the empty space.
Oing.
Let alone a Black Aura, not even a shadow of the Fairy could be seen. Having lost the target to point at, she awkwardly waved her finger in mid-air before curling it up.
"Where did the Fairy go?"
"A Fairy? Did you read a fairy tale book in the meantime?"
Lord Demon sat on the edge of the bed. He reached out and checked the temperature of Pastel's forehead.
"Your condition seems fine. Haa. I let you wander around alone, and you immediately fainted. I think my mind was more at ease when you were tied to the magic sword."
Her pink eyes widened.
"I collapsed?!"
"Did you think you didn't collapse?"
The demon was dumbfounded.
"What happened? Everyone except you, the only witness, was dead. If even someone at the Semi-Knight Level in the Former Knights' Order died, it means something unusual occurred."
Ueeh?
"Really? What exactly happened?"
"I am asking because I do not know. I investigated the scene, but there were no signs of battle or Magic Residue. The cause is practically unknown."
What is this?
Is this the incident where even the Archdemon declares he doesn't know?
Pastel carefully retraced her memories.
She definitely remembered calling over some members of the Former Knights' Order to order a body search after finding out that the engineer's group had switched its status from innocent victims to suspicious victims.
After that, the wooden box came out.
And the Fairy made a 'ta-da' appearance.
―Gasp, are you a Fairy?!
―That's right!
I showed off my Master Detective Deduction by quickly guessing the Fairy's identity.
And then.
A red scene flashed through her mind.
"Agh."
Pastel's head throbbed.
"I feel like there is something, but I think this might be the territory of my Hormone Friend."
It seemed like a memory that was difficult to recall in her right mind.
"Hmm."
The demon crossed his arms and pondered.
"Right, you need rest. Let us move past this topic. I will bring you warm milk. Even if you do not feel sick, stay lying down."
"Yes!"
Lord Demon left the room.
Pastel jumped up from the bed. She looked around and cupped her hands around her mouth like a megaphone.
"Fairy! Where are you!"
It disappeared as if they were never there the moment Lord Demon arrived. It's like an illusion, just like the Fairy World.
Oing.
Did I perhaps hit my head while fainting?
Was the Fairy an illusion created by my smart brain friend?
Gasp, thinking about it realistically, there's no way something like the Fairy World exists.
There's no way Pastel would shout about the introduction of the Foreign Exchange Management Act! Hot money control! Investment Inflow Restriction! And so on.
In fact, everything was an illusion born of mental and physical impairment.
"Fresh seaweed..."
If I'm fresh seaweed, I have to lie in bed until I become dried seaweed.
Pastel decided to be good and lie in bed just as Lord Demon said.
She pulled back the blanket.
The Fairy, who was inside, peeked its head out.
―You must not tell anyone about my existence!
"Uwaak!"
Pastel was startled and flustered.
"Fairy, you were hiding here?!"
―More importantly, you must absolutely never let anyone know of my existence!
The Fairy said firmly.
―If my existence is known, there will be a pursuit by bad people!
"Huh? Really?"
Come to think of it, the Fairy was trapped in the suspicious engineer's wooden box, and the illegal train was transporting cargo somewhere. That means it was a large-scale organization that trapped the Fairy.
Then, was the incident where everyone died while I was unconscious an assassination by a suspicious organization for the destruction of evidence?
Since the identity of a subordinate of the organization like the engineer was exposed anyway, it might be a cold-blooded strategy to shoot them on the spot and cut off the tail rather than letting them be tracked.
But killing a governor who received His Imperial Majesty's Sword would cause a massive backlash, so they only knocked me out so I couldn't see properly.
Plausible.
Nngh.
A suspicious organization that dared to use manipulation on the great Governor-General Pastel...
Pastel pondered, but stopped thinking because the only suspicious organization that came to mind was the Church.
Anyway, it's probably the Church's doing!
Boo! evil cult...!
"Understood! I won't tell anyone about the Fairy's existence!"
Pastel mimed zipping her lips.
A Popular Person naturally keeps their mouth shut!
"By the way, Fairy, do you know what happened while I was unconscious? The people I was supposed to capture died in the meantime."
The Fairy stared blankly.
Then it smiled brightly and shouted.
―I don't know! I ran away before something happened and came back after the situation was over! Wouldn't it be the work of bad people?!
Bad people that even the Fairy acknowledge!
"They're totally bad people! For the stability of the Fairy World, I will definitely get revenge!"
Evil church!
I'll dash to the Demon World Capital and bring the troops of the United Kingdom and the private army of the Demon World Corporation!
Entire army! Attack the Church!
Even though I don't know where they are!
"What are you talking to yourself so much for?"
Lord Demon opened the door and entered, holding a steaming glass of milk.
"Gasp!"
She hurriedly checked, but the Fairy had long since vanished with a pop.
The Fairy's reflexes are super-fast!
Phew!
Pastel felt relieved and glared at Lord Demon.
"Lord Demon! How can you just enter my room as you please! I have something called privacy too!"
"What?"
The demon was very flustered.
He was so bewildered that his emotions didn't seem to translate immediately into words. He handed the glass of milk to Pastel and spoke a moment later.
"If you want to argue like that, I have much more to say. If you really want, you can do your own laundry too."
Pastel chugged the milk in one shot. A toasty warmth flowed through her body. She swallowed the Magic Stone Powder that crunched like sugar with a mumbling/chewing sound—gulp.
And then she pointed a finger at Lord Demon.
"That's that, and this is this! A room is a personal space, and I have the right to be guaranteed personal time! How long do you think I'll be a kid?! A lot of the second semester has already passed, and in just a few months, I'll be 15 years old too?!"
Pastel shouted shrilly while subtly straightening the blanket. The evidence that the Fairy was there was destroyed. Her heart pounded thump, thump.
She felt like a bad kid who had something to hide from her guardian.
Lord Demon swept a hand over his face. His speechless, bewildered expression remained for a while.
His lips parted, and a voice barely came out.
"For now, understood. I will consider it."
Consider it?
"Don't consider it. Guarantee my privacy! It's because you're like that that I'm going this far to say it!"
Riding the momentum, Pastel argued.
Lord Demon made an expression as if his breath was caught in his throat. He retrieved the empty milk glass and tapped it for no reason.
"For now, right. Well, hmm."
Lord Demon looked back at the door for no reason. Then he looked at Pastel, and awkwardly looked back at the door again.
"I just need to knock before entering?"
Her pink eyes sharpened with a glare.
"Knocking is basic manners! In the first place, you shouldn't enter my room as you please until I give permission!"
The demon's fingers touched his mouth.
"I see. That was it. Right. That is correct."
Lord Demon muttered slightly dumbfoundedly, as if he had realized something.
Then, with his fingertips trembling faintly, he turned his body.
"Understood. Rest for now."
Somehow, it was an action that looked like running away from an embarrassing situation.
Lord Demon left and the door closed. Perhaps the respect for privacy worked, as an additional locking sound was heard.
Pastel stared at the door with a fierce expression for a moment. Then her expression gradually softened into a bright one.
Both her arms shot up.
"Oh yeah! I have achieved the subjugation of the evil Archdemon!"
Pastel is amazing!
She hurriedly looked around.
"Fairy! Fairy!"
She lifted the blanket and checked under the bed.
"Fairy! Fairy!"
She tried to open the bedside drawer. The Fairy peeked its head out from under the pillow.
―Well done! That's how you do it!
Ahaha!
I'm totally competent!
"High five!"
Pastel held out her palm toward the Fairy's palm. A small clap sound rang out.
Yay!
