Kimidori Gorun’s father was, of course, a Dragonkin: a huge man with a rough, easygoing manner. A single brown line marked the area beneath his lower jaw. The older woman had said it was “Charming, right? Eek!” but, I’m sorry, I really couldn’t see it.
The meal laid out on the table was far more sumptuous than I had expected.
There was a stewed river fish that must have been eighty centimeters long, rabbit stew, and a mountain of bread... Calling it a rural manor’s menu might be rude, but being able to serve all this in a world that was gradually falling into ruin was impressive.
(When I thought about it, there were a lot of muscular people here, so perhaps they had no shortage of food?)
I enjoyed the meal while thinking about that. The fish was especially delicious, with fragrant herbs giving it a clean, refreshing flavor.
