Dragon and Ogre, Sacrifice and Sin (17)

The area in front of the checkpoint, literally the "entrance" to the Lef Magitech Empire, was a scene of chaos. The plaza where we adventurers had once spent a night outdoors and the space where the Adventurer's Guild hut had stood were jammed with soldiers from every nation, all pushing and shoving.

"Hey, I can't get through!"

"We're heading inside!"

"Ow! Who bumped into me?!"

"General! General!"

After stopping a few people and asking what was going on, I learned that the general serving as supreme commander of the Light Heaven Knight Kingdom had already passed through the checkpoint and gone inside, with soldiers rushing in after him. On top of that, the Keith Grand Federation's deputy general had also headed for the front lines, and additional soldiers were flooding in to support him.

The Kurvaan Holy Kingdom added to the confusion as well: Lord Glenjeed, the former Holy King, was already at the front, and the kingdom was trying to send soldiers in to assess the situation.

Meanwhile, armies were massed on both sides of the thick wall, since it happened to be time for the Keith Grand Federation's troops to rotate. The checkpoint was fulfilling its purpose, but this was the worst possible situation.

And I was—late.

"Ugh... So this is what our Light Heaven Knight Kingdom has come to."...
