Tang Xiao walked out of the restroom and headed straight for the masked man without hesitation.
The young man, who had left the regular line to enter the hall, drew curious looks from those around him. The masked man ignored them all. Only when Tang Xiao stopped in front of him, his tall, slender figure casting a shadow over him, did the masked man say lazily, “Please get in line, thanks.”
“I have something urgent I’d like to discuss with you,” Tang Xiao said seriously. “It concerns the safety of the hall.”
The masked man said nothing for a moment. His one-eyed mask revealed nothing of his expression. Just as Tang Xiao was about to speak again, the masked man stood up. “Let’s talk over there. If anything happens while we’re away, you’ll be held responsible.”
“Fine.”
They went to a quiet corner not far from the line, where they could still keep the entrance in view. Only then did the masked man ask, “Why didn’t you go to the director?”
Tang Xiao looked puzzled. “Aren’t people with superpowers responsible for security at presentations?”
The masked man didn’t answer at first. Strangely, though his mask had no eyeholes, Tang Xiao could feel a gaze sweeping over him. The masked man gave a quiet laugh. “All right. Go ahead.”
Tang Xiao took a deep breath and told him what he’d said to the director: that he suspected there was a mole who would make a move during the presentation.
“I know I don’t have much proof, so I hope you’ll go into the presentation hall too, just in case.”...
