Characters
Monica Everett (19)
The 〈Silent Witch〉 can handle experiments just fine, but her cooking skills leave much to be desired.
Still, everyone who knew her adoptive mother, Hilda Everett, says the same thing: “She was raised by Hilda of all people, and she turned out normal...!”
As a child, she had no foods she disliked, but after eating her adoptive mother's labor-of-love lamb stew and being bedridden afterward, she developed an aversion to lamb.
Needless to say, peas are a trauma.
Isaac Walker (22)
The pie-making witch's apprentice, also known as Your Highness, Your Excellency, the Duke of Eirin, and the Mysterious Person.
He's recently come to understand how a young person feels when their country grandma sends them a huge amount of food they can eat if they force themselves, but don't really like.
He's mastered chantless storage magic and even chantless sparkle magic, steadily leveling up as the 〈Silent Witch〉's apprentice.
Cyril Ashley (20)
The good-natured heir to Marquis Hione eats anything without being picky. He's a small eater, though, and has a low tolerance for hot food.
His naturally chilly constitution has improved, changing how quickly his food and drinks cool down. As a result, he often misjudges when to take a bite or sip and gets burned. Sometimes he freezes mid-meal, eyes brimming with tears.
〈Knowledge Keeper's Key Sophocles〉
A gentlemanly intellectual who excels at using sealing barriers—and is deeply troubled by how much his character overlaps with a certain 〈Barrier Mage〉, though probably nobody else cares.
Viscent Ashley
Marquis Hione. Cyril's adoptive father. He loves both his daughter and his adopted son, but his son sometimes pushes himself too hard and collapses, which worries Papa terribly.
He once placated the 〈Knowledge Keeper's Key〉 with a board game after it complained, “I'd sooner die than contract with such an unsociable man. I want a bride! Bring me a bride!”
Ture
The White Dragon of Calug. The white weasel.
Likes cooled meat and alcohol. Also likes pretty much anything Cyril likes.
Asshel Pike
A high-ranking Ice Spirit whose name lives on in legend. The golden weasel.
Has no sense of taste, but can eat. Anything Ture calls delicious is delicious.
Claudia Maywood (19)
A lady with no food dislikes, but strong opinions about people she dislikes.
She and Raul knew each other before the main story began. They are nothing more than acquaintances.
She complains that she had to spend ages helping Cyril practice chess, but she didn't help nearly as much as she claims.
Neil was the one who had to put up with all that.
Neil Clay Maywood (19)
A mediator who seems to be constantly flying all over the Kingdom of Ridill.
Ever since he heard that drinking milk makes you grow taller, he hasn't missed his morning glass.
If you don't give up, a path will surely open—and so will your height.
Raul Roseburg (21)
He's known as the farmer among the Seven Sages, but these days it's increasingly suspected that being one of the Seven Sages is the fifth-generation 〈Thorn Witch〉's side job.
He's a pretty good cook. He likes his vegetables with a bit of crunch, so he leaves them a little firm when he makes soup.
The firmness of the soup's carrots made a certain 〈Noble Person〉 grimace outside the window.
Nero
Behold the phantom dragon's true form: a runaway cat.
While away from home, Nero had grand adventures fighting crows and stray dogs. Nero was all fired up to tell them about it, only to find that Monica and the others had been on an unbelievable adventure of their own. What a cat-astrophe.
Glenn Dudley (19)
The butcher's son is as energetic as ever. He likes meat and hates carrots.
He was genuinely worried about his master's unbalanced diet of jam and alcohol.
The first time he ever lost his temper at his master was when his master tried to put jam on some good meat.
Elliot Howard (20)
He likes boiled turnips but hates pickled ones. He can't stand the tough centers of leafy greens. He hates bone-in meat because it's hard to eat. He can eat carrots, but hates them sautéed in butter. He dislikes the texture of salted fish. He also hates bony fish. Beans are fine as a paste, but not whole... and so on.
A droopy-eyed fellow who's so picky about everything it's a real pain. He's set to play an active role in the next chapter.
