【Regional Characteristics of the East, West, South, and North of the Kingdom of Ridill】
※The names in parentheses are people from that region.
★Central Region (Monica, Cyril, Elliott, Claudia, Neil, Glenn, Benjamin, Raul, Ray, Mary)
The region containing the royal capital, Ridill Kingdom Castle, Serendia Academy, and Minerva.
The Roseberg estate of 〈Thorn Witch〉 and the Albright estate of 〈Abyssal Curse Caster〉 are also in this area.
Even though it is the central region, not every part of it is urban. There are many pastoral areas as well, and Neil's hometown is rural and hilly.
Even among people from the Central Region, customs often differ depending on whether they come from the eastern or western side.
★Eastern Region (Isaac, Isabel, Casey)
Because it is close to the border with the Empire and suffers frequent dragon attacks, many of its lords possess considerable military strength.
Because dragon attacks are common, people are highly wary of dragons. Many also hate dragons.
People from the East are said to be fond of alcohol, and many are heavy drinkers.
Bean dishes are common, meat is favored, and herbs are more familiar than spices.
Perhaps because the eastern regions suffer frequent dragon attacks, they have many customs and practices that place importance on bonds with family and friends. They are also said to tend toward slightly more physical affection than people in other regions.
★Western Region (Lana, Bridget, Barney, Clifford)
Many areas are close to the sea, and trade and other commerce flourish there.
Industry is flourishing.
People say the region has many cheerful, sociable merchants.
Perhaps because it is a land with so many merchants, people from the West tend to speak a little quickly and be impatient.
There is a strong tendency to send even one's beloved children out into the world, so many parents support their children's independence and study abroad.
★Southern Region (Eliane ← somewhat eastern, Hubert, Bradford)
It is the most agriculturally prosperous region in the Kingdom of Ridill.
Perhaps because of its warm climate, it is said to have many broad-minded, laid-back people.
Trade with Farfolia is particularly active.
★Northern Region (Louis)
The North has even more sparsely populated countryside than the East.
It is a cold region and by no means easy to live in. For that reason, it is also said to be where people exiled for political reasons and those who lost their homes to dragon attacks end up. The gap between rich and poor is severe, and it has many areas with particularly poor law and order even within the Kingdom of Ridill.
In the North, each region and settlement has its own distinctive accent. Even among people from the North, it is not unusual for their accents to be completely different.
Although the Kingdom of Ridill is more advanced than other countries in flood control and waterworks, the North still lacks infrastructure such as running water, and many areas drink diluted liquor in place of water. Perhaps because of that, there are many heavy drinkers.

Southern Region = many easygoing, laid-back people → Hubert Dee's hometown
Western Region = many cheerful, sociable merchants → Clifford Anderson's hometown
As you can see from the above, regional characteristics do not necessarily apply to every person from that region.
Southern Doll, where Monica and the others live, is in the West.
Isaac's domain, Erin, lies even farther south from there.
Erin has no port as large as Southern Doll, but it does have a small, beautiful town with a view of the sea.
