Vol. 10 Ch. 16: Monica and Nero's First Meeting

Monica asked Felix to wait in the hallway for a while, then made one request of Ray.

"Abyssal Curse Mage-sama, I want you to put a curse on me."

At Monica's words, Ray's eyes widened in surprise for a moment, but he immediately seemed to understand and clapped his hands.

"If strong human emotions can become curses, then love counts too, right? So I can take 'curse me' to mean the same thing as 'love me,' right?"

"No, um, that's not it..."

Fidgeting as she twisted her fingers together, Monica explained to Ray the details of the curse she wanted him to cast.

Cursecraft was normally treated as a semi-forbidden art, but members of the Albright family were permitted to use weak curses that met certain standards, provided the subject consented. Even so, it was exceedingly rare for anyone to request a curse themselves.

Ray seemed puzzled as to why she needed to do such a thing, but when Monica repeatedly said, "Please," he readily nodded, looking pleased.

"Ah, sure. Since it's a request from a junior who looks up to me... Hey, you're in love with me, right?"

"R-Respect and admiration, perhaps..."...
