Vol. 16 Ch. 2: Monica and Glen Make Their Case

A small magic circle had been set up on a hill overlooking the forest into which Lewis Miller's carriage had entered. A crystal ball sat at its center, displaying the scene within the forest.

Surrounding the magic circle were the 〈Silent Witch〉, Monica Everett, Cyril Ashley, and Neil Clay Maywood.

In the crystal ball, the carriage carrying Lewis Miller had just come to a stop.

At that moment, Monica laid her wand against the magic circle and activated the formation without chanting.

The magic circle immediately began to glow white, and, as if answering its call, the entire forest below the hill was enveloped in a pale light.

"...The magical combat barrier is active. Please maintain it."

At Monica's words, Cyril and Neil nodded and began channeling magical power into the barrier.

It was said that a magical combat barrier normally required two advanced magicians to activate and maintain.

In reality, however, the complicated part was activating the barrier; maintaining it posed no problem as long as one had a certain amount of magical power.

So this time, Monica would handle the complex activation, while Cyril and Neil would take over maintenance afterward...
