Vol. 5 Ch. 5: Eyes of Suspicion

That night, after the tea-party exercise in the courtyard ended, Monica was writing a report in her attic room.

Naturally, Monica had lost points for serving coffee at a tea party. Lana and Casey pleaded with the teacher on her behalf, so she avoided failing, but in exchange, she was ordered to submit a report.

Beside Monica as she wrote, Nero was happily lapping up coffee with plenty of milk. In cat form, Nero skillfully hugged the small cup between his forepaws and plunged his face into it.

"Hmph, this ain't half bad. So this is what they call a grown man's taste, eh?"

With all that sugar and milk in it, calling it a grown man's taste was quite a claim.

Monica was exasperated, but after finishing her report, she put away her quill and let out a soft sigh.

The tea leaves in the trash can came to mind.

It was obvious that someone was deliberately targeting Monica.

(I wonder... will things like that keep happening?)

The hostile eyes turned on Monica were growing more intense by the day...
